– A brief history, (culled from the felicitation of the Lapeleke Dynasty published in the 10th Owu Day celebration Programme).
Akinale is a settlement established by Lapeleke, a sector commander of the Owu army under the overall command of Akindele Gbalefa, who between 1836-1843 repelled the onslaught of a series of enemies on the Abeokuta-Lagos axial road for the survival of Abeokuta and the Egba Federation.
After settling his brothers, Majeogbe and Akinwale in Akinale Village at about 1840, Lapeleke the legendary warrior and hunter exploited his mastery of the terrain to traverse through Olaogun and Olujobi, to inaugurate yet another village, lapeleke, which is today’s pot of wealth for many a soul.
Oba Olufemi Adewunmi Ogunleye, fnipr, JP., who was an Apomu chief and a former Public Relations Manager with the defunct Nigerian Airways was crowned in 2006 as the first monach of Akinale Community by the Paramount Ruler of Owu Kingdom, the Olowu of Owu, Oba Dr. Olusanya Adegboyega Dosunmu.
Oba Ogunleye who bears the royal title of Towulade of Akinale, has also adopted the alias(s) of Afogunlanafade, Delesolu 1, and Arole Olowu of Owu Kingdom. He is a direct great grandson of Lapuleke, the renowned warrior of the Gbalefa Wars.
